Nagraj 8: Nagraj ka Insaaf – The Final Reckoning

Nagraj 8: Nagraj ka Insaaf – The Final Reckoning

August 17, 2025 thegentlemanphilosopher

There’s pulp. There’s drama. And then there’s the cover of Nagraj ka Insaaf. William stands in shadowy triumph. Florida dangles above an octopus tank. And Nagraj, the eternal green warrior, fends off a mace-wielding monster. It’s all there: excess, spectacle, tension. And it works.

You have seen Telo in the previous comic book. Here it feels as if the challenges are multiplied. But, to be honest, when we got this comics, the first thing we did was to flip to the last page. Just to check whether this is where the story ends. And that also told us that we will have William vs Nagraj in this one.

The comic begins with a rare sight: Nagraj defeated. His body thrown from a tower. Unconscious. And for once, not saved by timing or twist. He is really unconscious. Telo stands over him, laughs and calls him – “Chooha”.

The hero can get hurt: Nagraj loses consciousness

Meanwhile, Don and Florida reach to the top of the tower. They attack Telo. That buys time for Nagraj to recover his senses. But when Telo attacks, Don and Florida, while brave, are no match to his strength. Telo prepares to kill.

But Nagraj wakes. He sees his friends in jeopardy and his fury returns.

And what follows is swift. No sermon. Just strike. A single karate chop to Telo’s temple. The man who once broke Nagraj’s myth is gone in a panel. But not with disrespect. Nagraj salutes him –

“Tum pehle shakhs the, Telo, jisne mujhe chot pahunchayi.”

It’s a line with weight. Because it comes with respect.

From there, the final act unravels quickly. Don enters the fortress to destroy the godowns of weapons and explosives. Florida and Nagraj move toward William’s lair.

They meet William.

Finally, a face to the name. William offers the classic temptation to Nagraj: join me. Money. Power. Legacy. Or, Die.

Nagraj refuses to join. And so, enters Jangaaru—the final fighter. He starts with bare fists at first. When those are no match for Nagraj’s fighting skill, a barbed mace.

The floor shatters. Florida falls into a pool. A giant octopus rises.

And suddenly the fight becomes urgent for Nagraj. He has to take down Jangaaru before the Octopus takes down Florida to the murky depths. Nagraj releases his snake army. His snakes strike. Jangaaru is disarmed and destroyed. And in a fitting manner as well. Nagraj uses Jangaaru’s top knot to strangle him to death. As if saying – “Aur bano hero.”

Now Nagraj is free to save Florida. But William presses a button—and the glass floor gives way completely. Nagraj falls in too. While Nagraj and Florida are two people. The Octopus has eight tentacles.

Imagine being a kid and watching this unfold in colored panels. You know what is going to happen. Nagraj will kill the Octopus and will save Florida, and still you are moving through the panels slowly. You want to savor the fight.

The glass panel had broken from Jangaaru’s mace. So Nagraj has a weapon under water. Glass shard in hand, he kills the octopus.

Now that all the lieutenants of William are taken care of, he in his desperation, fires his gun.

And Florida—that furious, loyal, cinematic presence—jumps in front.

She dies thinking she’s saving Nagraj.

That’s where this comic becomes more than pulp. Because Florida’s death isn’t tragic for its drama. It’s tragic because it’s pointless. Because Nagraj didn’t need protection. And because he couldn’t protect her from what she didn’t know.

He kills William with one blow. Decapitation by karate chop. A rare finality in a medium that loves to revive.

The fortress explodes. Don and Nagraj escape. Florida’s body with them.

It ends not with celebration—but with silence. Because even in this pulp world of monsters and mayhem—loss lingers.

Don says – “Dost! Yeh toh sirf shuruat thi mere naye jeevan ki.” And that’s all.
